Mid-July Weather Continues

wxch_current_1005.jpgYesterday's low temperature of 69 degrees was higher than the normal high for the day. A high pressure system that's now centered over Connecticut should make today and tomorrow slightly warmer. Highs will be in the mid-80s, which is typical for July.

A back door cold front, a front that sneaks down from New England, is expected to bring a few showers and cooler weather on Sunday. In this case cooler means a high around 80 degrees. The front should reverse direction late Sunday and may warm back up to the mid-80s again on Monday. This is Columbus Day weekend at the beach weather!

After Monday the crystal ball of meteorology gets murkier than usual. The general trend will be toward more seasonable temperatures and a bit of rain. The specific forecasts from the Weather Service and Weather.com differ a lot. Gothamist is going to ignore both of them and enjoy the warm weekend.

This morning's surface weather map from weather.com.

Where is that nice cooler chill that is so refreshing (after such a humid summer) that comes through this time of year!

Fall is my favorite season and every year it's turning into Late Summer.
