Two Cops Shot While Serving Warrant

webstermap.jpgTwo veteran detectives, Daniel Rivera and William Gonzalez (both 41 years old), were grazed by gunfire early this morning. One detective was wounded in the forehead and the other in the leg, during a shootout in the East Tremont section of the Bronx at Webster Ave. and 188th St. around 5:30 a.m. The two cops were in the process of serving an arrest warrant to 20-year-old Jermaine Taylor for questioning related to a Bronx bodega shooting. In the course of serving that warrant, gunfire was exchanged, the detectives were grazed, and Taylor was seriously wounded.

According to one report, Taylor attempted to evade police by removing an air-conditioning unit from a second story window and jumping into an alley, breaking his pelvis. He then fired a number of shots at police before attempting to climb a fence. Police returned fire with 13 shots, and it is unclear whether Taylor was hit, although WCBS is saying that he was shot.

Not really East Tremont. More like Fordham or maybe Bathgate.

this is why I boobie trap my home "Home" style.

  • Keeps it real?

I can only wish he'd keep it real dead.

Jermaine Taylor should be in a wooden box, sadly he survived and will now suck the tax payers of $35K a year in jail. Wonderful.

Better than complaining on your blog about how the NYPD sucks. I mean, at least this kid keeps it real.

Now. Now. Let's not rush to judgement on this one. The dude was just cleaning his gun when it went off accidentally. Just do a ballistic check on the rounds fired at the bodega and the ones fired at the police and see if they match. If not then there is a possibility that it's not the same dude.

I watch "COPS" all the time and they say, "The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." I say, give the police better firearms training so when they shoot someone they knock them down permanently. Or have a backlog of calls to EMS for an ambulance.
