These guys are SO RUDE! the attitude is unbearable. i know many people in the neighborhood who refuse to go to papa lima purely based on the complete ridiculousness of the staff's attitude!
STAY AWAY!

It's one thing that Papa Lima is over priced, I can understand since all their ingrediants are fresh, local and tasty. When you order egg salad, I like to think it's fresh, organic and healthy. This is the differnce between the extra couple of bucks you are spending.
HOWEVER, and this is huge..the staff are a bunch of kids with attitudes, always acting like they have something better to do.
Plus, they are almost always out of most of the ingredients on their own menu. This is Papa Lima's downfall.
I know people who have walked out and swore never to return. Local people with money. This is the core of their survival and the kids who half heartedly man the counter don't even act like they care.
I mean, does it take any effort to offer good customer service? I don't think so. why not make it a point to ask a customer if they want lettuce and tomato on a $6 egg salad sandwhich? Will they loose street cred?
We'll grown up, kids before the shutter doors go down.

These are some real good sandos! To compare them to the bodega next door, or the Dominican diner across the street (both of which are good in their own right, the diner has killer empanadas) is absolutely ridiculous! There is not one sandwich on the menu here that the bodega or diner can even come close to replicating. If you are looking for a quality sando with quality ingredients, and are willing to pay a little for it, then i suggest you pop in. However, if you think all gentrification is evil, i suggest you stay away from here and most of NYC for that matter!

Oh come on, this place is ridiculous. It's like $10 for a ham and cheese sandwich that's no better than the Bodega next door makes for $3.00. Go across the street to the Dominican diner and you can have a huge plate of rice, beans and a meat dish for less than $5.00. This is gentrification at its worse. The sooner Papa Lima goes out of business, the better.

The staff is on pills. We walked in and the guy asked, "so who wants some sandwiches?" like some menacing cub scout den leader. Then while we were looking at the menu he made some weird noise with his mouth and when I gave him a look he said "I didn't say anything." We walked out.
