A 62-year-old woman was attacked in her Gerritsen Beach home when two masked men pushed their way in. WNBC 4 reports that the woman's husband ran downstairs to help fight off the attackers, who fled and left the scene in a black Jeep.
According to WABC 7, the woman had been letting her cats back inside the house around 10PM when the men approached her. One of the men may have been armed with a gun.
The couple resides on Gerritsen Avenue, which is in the 61st Precinct; robberies and burglaries are down on a month-to-month and year-to-year basis (PDF). The woman was treated for broken ribs and other injuries at Lutheran Medical Center.

Why did you give the home address of the victim?
Just because channel 7 did it does not make it right,
I agree. I was shocked to see the home address. I'd be pissed if my home address turned up after I was the victim of a violent crime. Or non-violent crime. Or any event in which I did nothing illegal. I'd still be pissed if I had done something illegal, but I'd understand. Take their address out.
Jen, can't you see how wrong this is? You are setting them up to be burglarized while the victim is in the hospital.
Strange - if there was a burglary in your neighborhood, wouldn't you want to know where it was? And many times, the locations of attempted burglaries are printed. I imagine that the police would be stepping up patrols, but I'm taking it out for now.
you can mention the area/street w/o giving out the specific address...in this day and age you (and channel 7) should respect privacy
what's the big deal, it's public record.
I didn't see any outrage when addresses were posted for some other neighborhoods.
in fact, I think one comment was, I'm glad you posted the address, now I know where not to live.
Of course, I've cleaned up the language used.
Piss all you want, whiners.
That frightening attack happened at 2530 Gerritsen Avenue.
respect this. 2530 Gerritsen Ave.
I assume it's a white area.
its a matter of public record. some of you guys just get piss by anything. if the wind blow you'll bitch about it too.
number seven was a quote from the channel seven website.
I'm surprised someone didn't blame it on the cats.
the noon news not only mentioned the address again but the homeowners name. The homeowner operated his law practice from home so that's public record.
not only that, they interviewed a neighbor who stated she does not lock her back door. (that sounds dirty)
the homeowner has three security cameras.
