RALLY: Barack is back! This time he's hitting up Manhattan with an evening rally in Washington Square Park. It's gonna be a big one, so get there early! At least this time there won't be any unhappy paying customers, because it's free! Check out his video invite:

EVENT: Tonight the Fall 2007 season at NYPL is in full effect as Ken Burns and Robert Stone discuss Burns's new documentary about World War II called The War. "The War tells the story of the Second World War through the personal accounts of more than 40 men and women from four quintessentially American towns—Waterbury, Connecticut; Mobile, Alabama; Sacramento, California; and Luverne, Minnesota—who experienced and helped to win the most extraordinary war in history."

7pm // NYPL [42nd St @ 5th Ave] // $15

MUSIC: The Narrator, The End of the World and Emperor X play Union Hall tonight. Get yer tickets here. The former is described as "Dischord-meets early Jade Tree-inspired rock that sounds like Trail of Dead meets Cap'n Jazz meets Detachment Kit." Decide for yourself...

Listen: Start Parking.mp3 - The Narrator

7:30pm // Union Hall [702 Union St, Park Slope] // $8

THEATER: Downtown radio-theater innovators 31 Down present, for free, I used to be curious [loud]. “Event director and life coach Mike Sharpie hasn't voted in 16 years, but now he (and four of his clients) will embark on changing America in 2008. Are we using the conveniences of modern technologies to become more aware of world events, or are we using them to escape?” The production is loosely based on the '60s Swedish film I am curious [yellow] and uses telephones, old and new, to question communication. It’s part of Prelude ’07, a convention of “unconventional” theater makers that features free discussions and workshop performances with some of the most provocative players in town. (Show up at 4pm for a panel discussion on “Playwright Vs. Text” with Madeleine George, Richard Nelson, Eric Dyer, Mac Wellman.) – John Del Signore

8pm // CUNY Graduate Center, Martin E. Segal Theatre [365 Fifth Ave. @ 34 Street], // FREE
