Last Night's Action: No Wins Here

- Toronto 4 Yankees 1: You would have thought that the news that AJ Burnett was scratched from his start in favor of Jesse Litsch would have been good for the Yankees, it wasn’t. Litsch did a great imitation of Burnett, dominating the Yankees for almost eight innings and when Andy Pettitte struggled in the second, Toronto had all the offense they needed.
The loss drops New York two full games behind Boston with only six to play. They face an interesting decision, do they keep going for the division crown or do they settle for a wild card over the next week? They need one more win to make the playoffs no matter what.
- Washington 13 Mets 4: Manny Acta isn’t doing his old team any favors. The Nationals keep beating the Mets down the stretch and now the lead is back to two games. Monday night Mike Pelfry stunk and while the offense got 12 hits, they could only score 4 runs. Thankfully, they only have two games remaining with Washington and then they won’t see them again until 2008.

Man ... a couple months ago I was so very much looking forward to a Yankees-free playoffs. Then again, I do always enjoy rooting for one or more of them to suffer a crippling, career-ending, life-threatening injury in any given game. So it's not all bad!
You're a barrell of laughs, CW. Maybe you should stick to Nascar...
