Last Night's Action: A Long Day In The Bronx

- Yankees 12 Blue Jays 11 (10 innings): What could have been one of the more painful losses of the season turned into a very satisfying win. Down 3-1, the Yankees rallied to a 6-3 lead, only to fall behind 8-6. Once again, the bats responded, putting New York ahead 9-8, but Toronto jumped ahead again 11-9 in the eighth. The Yankees had another rally in them and tied things up in the bottom of the inning thanks to a two-run single by Melky Cabrera.
That’s where things stood until the 10th when Cabrera singled home the winning run with two outs. It capped a five-RBI day for Melky and ended a game that lasted an excruciating five hours. In the end, the Yankees used 10 pitchers, Toronto used 8 and with the Detroit loss New York’s magic number is three for the wild card.
- Mets 7 Florida 2: The Mets are doing what they need to, now if only Philadelphia would lose a game again. New York got a great start from Oliver Perez and 3 RBI’s from Ramon Castro to lower their magic number to seven.
- Red Bulls 2 New England 2: The Red Bulls got a late goal from Juan Pablo Angel to tie things up. Angel’s goal was his 16th and tied a franchise record for goals in a season.

Red Sox clinched a playoff spot. And the Yankee fans should be worried about the bullpen. Cleveland is peaking and is New York's likely ALDS opponent.
The Yankees bullpen is fine. Don't judge the Yanks playing against the BJs. This was a division game. The batters have seen these pitchers several times this year and the prior seasons. You most likely didn't know that because you're a Red Sux fan and you've got your head up your ass.
I'd lie to point out something. ince the All Star break the Yanks have been playing .700 ball. They are the hottest team in baseball. If the Yanks had won three more games in April and May, they'd would deservingly be in first place. Something to think about Red Sux fan.
If the Yanks had won three more games in April and May
But they didn't. This is one of the lowest forms of argument possible in sports. Gee, if the Red Sox had won two games against the Yankees last week instead of one the lead would be 4.5 games. Had they swept they would have clinched the divison by now. all true but entirely moot.
As for you profanity and insult, pretty much what one would expect from a Yankee fan and a Gothamist poster. And while the Yankee perfomace since the break is impressive, performance in July and August is also meaningless. Peaking in September and October is what you want. See: Marlins, Florida, 2003.
