- Blue Jays 5, Yankees 4 (14 innings): If they knew their four-run rally in the ninth inning would only result in a 14-inning loss, maybe they wouldn't have been so excited when they produced that unexpected effort. Roy Halladay hardly had to exert himself over the first eight innings, but some shoddy defense and timely hitting in the ninth undid all that.They always say it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, but that doesn't help the Yankees' bullpen in advance of Saturday's game. Mariano Rivera, Joba Chamberlain and Luis Vizcaino all threw scoreless innings in relief before Brian Bruney allowed the go-ahead run. Boston took care of Tampa Bay on Friday, increasing its lead to 2 1/2 games in the American League East. The Yankees' margin of error in that department just went from small to smaller.
- Mets 9, Marlins 6: Not only did the Mets win, but they won in a game in which Guillermo Mota appeared. Three reasons they shouldn't get too excited though. First, the Marlins stink and made six errors. Second, Carlos Beltran hurt his knee trying to catch a ball in center field. Third, the Phillies also won, beating Washington to keep the pressure on. Pedro Martinez didn't look at his best, but he did get two big strikeouts in a row when he needed them most and the game was still in doubt. It was easily the least impressive of his four starts since returning from his rotator cuff injury.

umm, the mets game isn't over yet...
ok, now it's over- mets win 9-6
Boston wins and Beckett wins 20. First 20 game winner since 2005!!!
Suck it Stankees!!!!
Fuck you, Boston masshole. Why the fuck does a blog that represents NYC have assholes from outside of NYC writing for them and antagonizing the people of the city it represents?
I am going to start a blog that represents NYC. The writers will be students recruited from NYC High Schools. I am certain it will kick Gothamist's ass.
What loser #4 is!!!!! One loss and you shit the bed!!!
FYI SF is dumping Bonds. The hypocrits in New york should sign him ASAP.
there are some really really stupid people that comment here.
The Yankees will sighn B*nds, they're the only "team" in MLB that has batting helmets that fit big bloated heads like his..
@7
There are a lot of stupid people that work here, too.
Yankees have no place for Bonds on the team. If Bonds doesn't retire he will play for another team on the west coast.
