Hopefully, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo didn’t buy a house when he moved to New York this off-season. After two games it looks as if Spagnuolo and Tom Coughlin will be looking for new jobs very soon. The numbers are hideous, 80 points allowed in two games, over 800 yard allowed and opponents have completed an astounding 71% of their passes against them, but the visual evidence is even worse. Mathias Kiwanuka looks lost at linebacker. Kawika Mitchell’s play makes you long for the days of Carlos Emmons and Webster and Madison can’t cover anyone.
As if the bad play wasn’t enough, the Giants made plenty of mental mistakes in the 35-13 loss as well. Jeremey Shockey committed a stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that negated a first down and forced the Giants to settle for a field goal. Amani Toomer uncharacteristically lost his cool and his personal foul also forced the Giants to settle for a field goal.
And, the injury bug hit again. Steve Smith may be lost for the year with a shoulder injury and Plaxico Burress and Aaron Ross both left the game with injuries. Jared Lorenzen got hurt while he was filling in for Eli Manning and the Giants were forced to use their emergency quarterback, Anthony Wright. Add it all up and the Giants are facing a long week before they face Washington next Sunday at 4pm.

That Toomer hissy fit was straight up embarassing. He lunges at the guys legs, misses, then the Green Bay guy (who was it?) starts stepping on him with his cleats. The Toomer gets up and throws an absolute hissy fit in front of this guy twice his size. He looked like a yappy dog.
Sad, sad, game. Also Favre looked like a real pro - some of his completions were magic.
The good news is eli manning is competent - but that's about it.
Fire Coughlin.
The Giants fans expect to see a good defense on the field. Not having a pass rush and an good secondary makes an old man like Favrerererer look ten years younger.
Coughlin needs to get some discipline on his team. As bad as the Giants are playing stupid penalties make winning the game even more difficult.
The defense gave up 80 points in two games. Embarrassing.
Coughlin has already lost this team and I don't see why they kept him on this year.
This is the lowest point for the Giants since the days of Dave Br*wn. I can't believe two games into the season and already I'm looking forward to next September. The only good news is that the Jets suck too.
