Last Night's Action: Seven Straight

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg

  • Yankees 4, Blue Jays 1: Entering this game, who would have thought Joba Chamberlain would allow more runs than Mike Mussina? The rookie reliever's scoreless streak finally ended, but that's small potatoes in the Yankees' seventh straight win. Besides, his ERA's still at 0.00 because Alex Rodriguez's error allowed the run to score. Mussina's start makes a case for him to be of use in October, a month that each day seems more likely to greet the Yankees, who lead Detroit by four games in the wild-card race. Boston's late-game heroics kept it comfortably ahead in the American League East.

  • Mets 4, Braves 3: What's this? A Shawn Green sighting? The right-fielder/first-baseman continued his dominance of John Smoltz -- and Manny Acosta -- by going 3-for-4 as the Mets took care of the Braves. They appear to have gotten used to the whole beating-Atlanta-in-September thing. John Maine didn't look good -- he walked in a run on three straight free passes at one point -- but he wasn't awful either in six innings of work. In the pennant race runaway, the Mets hold a seven-game lead over Philadelphia, which was humbled by Colorado. The Phillies come to town following an off-day on Thursday.

Try and get it right: Chamberlain gave up one unearned run NOT a HR. His ERA is still 0.00

Maine looked pretty good I thought, especially coming off a terrible game. He did have a minor meltdown in that 4th inning, but other than that he showed some some poise, and for the majority of his time out there on the hill he was in command.

Chamberlain didn't give up the run, A-Rod did.

Regarding Maine, I'm not sure what game you watched. He had one rough spot where he gave up a single run, and otherwise the Braves couldn't touch him.

The run scored on A-Rod's throwing error to first. The run is unearned. Toronto is a team that has thrown in the towel for the season.

I can't believe the Tampa Bay Devil Sucks. They blew another one against the Boston Red Sux. Get some pitching TB. As good as the Red Sux look at the end of the season, you know the Red Sux don't want to play the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs. I can't wait for this weekend for the Red Sux ass pounding by the Yankees.

Yankees will sweep this weekend

I think Delmon Youn is still looking for Papi's flyball.
