At The Art Parade
Yesterday we headed to the 3rd Annual Art Parade, an event that manages to make West Broadway a little more colorful for an hour each year. The scene is one of surrealism and modern day statements.

Almost doubling in size from its first year, the parade yesterday boasted about 800 contributors. The Village Voice has more on the history of the event, and one main difference this year was that the usual post-parade party on Wooster Street outside of Deitch didn't take place. The police and mysterious parade officials quickly cleared the block, and the after-party was held at the Delancey.
More photos (by John Del Signore) after the jump...

Great pics.
Yeah, the Art Parade has become one our (me and daughters) favorite events. We love the art; we love the almost flash-mob feeling to it (thousands of people suddenly appear, cheer on a crazy parade, then the whole scene quickly reverts back to a standard Saturday in Soho); we love the free ice cream!
I posted a bunch of pictures last night, if anyone's interested:

Oh, so sad to have missed it this year. But Transportation Alternative's Century Ride was also yesterday.
The circus has come to town. Get these clowns off the streets.
19th century surrealism?
