READING: Rosemarie Tichler, casting director and artistic producer at New York's Public Theater, and playwright Barry Jay Kaplan have put together a written work called Actors at Work. Tonight they'll be discussing this quintessential, and inspirational, resource.
7:30pm // Barnes & Noble [1972 Broadway] // Free
THEATER: Writer/director Peter A. Campbell works his multimedia magic on Euripides’s Iphigenia in Tauris (not to be confused with Iphigenia at Aulis, which Charles Mee has re-imagined in a stunning production now at Signature). Like Mee, Campbell and his collaborators use Iphigenia as “a thematic tool with which to examine a modern world colored by corruption.” Dubbed iph.then, the work includes several versions of the Iphigenia tale as well as contemporary sources, in monologues, dialogues, opera, choral interludes, dances, fragments, video, and interruptions. Begins tonight as part of the Ontological Theater’s Summer Series. - John Del Signore
8pm // Ontological Theater [St. Mark's Church, 131 E 10th St] // Tickets cost $15
MUSIC: Austin's Car Stereo (Wars) is in NYC tonight. They've got a new album, The Bandit, out on the new Artifact Workshop label. Chris Rose will be deejaying, mashing and whatnot while Adreon Henry provides the percussion. Anyone who can include Journey, Nirvana and Avril Lavigne in ONE SONG (listen below) is worth seeing. Trust us.

10pm // Happy Ending [302 Broome St] // Free
MOVIE: Are you sick of hearing about mumblecore yet? Well tonight IFC brings Quiet City to their fest, which was raved about at SXSW earlier this year. What to expect?: boy, girl, coleslaw, art shows, New York...

Has anyone noticed that the last "event" The Whole Foods dating night doesn't have a place to post comments??? Seems it was a bit of a disaster. Good to see the fine folks at Gothamist have decided to pre-emptively censor any responses.
Dear guest, you're welcome to email suggestions to us about the singles event - info(at)gothamist(dot)com . There are certainly things we could do to improve the event, but for the first event, I think we did a good job. And keep in mind, it was free.
Then make a comments section available on the post.
My apologies if this was simply an oversight and not an attempt to play ostrich.
Funny - Gawker has a 20 long list of comments regarding the Whole Foods event and Gothamist still is not allowing comments on their post - So much for any semblance of journalistic integrity.....
