Advance Copies of BusinessWeek Aided Insider Trading

2007_08_bizweek.gifA former Goldman Sachs analyst pleaded guilty to insider trading charges yesterday. Twenty-eight- year-old Eugene Plotkin, with fellow Harvard graduate Stanislav Shpigelman who worked at Merrill Lynch and fellow Goldman analyst David Pajcin, have all pleaded guilty to an elaborate scheme that netted them almost $7 million.

The trio had been charged back in 2006. Plotkin and Pajcin would get tips from Shpigelman about Merrill's big deals. Pajcin gave tips to his seamstress aunt in Croatia, who made $2 million - a red flag to investigators. The pair also orchestrated a scheme where they recruited Businessweek production plant employees to send them the names of stocks "favorably mentioned" in a column prior to publication - and Plotkin and Pajcin traded those stocks.

Plotkin, a onetime competitive ballroom dancer, said, "Words can't express how sorry I am for the harm I have caused to others, especially my family. I understand what I did was wrong and against the law."

I say execute them. Give them the death penalty. For them to make $7 million, others had to lose it. So they stole and probably ruined lives.

Scheming Russians... love Brighton Beach, the fat ladies with their day-glo dye jobs and default scowls, the pelmeni, but some things should stay back home. These guys would surely be ridiculously rich oligarchs back there, as long as they stayed on the right side of Putin.

Eastern Europeans are SLEAZY, I've always thought so.

Yes, I think they each deserve a bullet in the back of the head via AK-47, while two other guards are holding you down...

That's right JMH, shifty motherfuckers, the whole lot of them. All that tango and foxtrot action is just a front for them to steal your money and your kids!

We better do something about this or I'm gonna take my people and we're going to the mountains!
