Cop Hurt in Williamsburg Hit-and-Run

2007_08_hitrunbk.jpgA police officer investigating a stolen car in Williamsburg was hit by a speeding Honda late last night. The 10-year-veteran with the 90th Precinct had been out with his partner checking vehicles near South 11th and Kent when a car reportedly barreled down the street.

Devon McCutcheon, who had reported the stolen car, told WABC 7, "We heard a car screech. There was a huge smash. A huge sound, he was going so fast." The officer was "knocked to the ground" and was "found clinging to the rear" of his car. Witnesses saw him coughing up blood.

The Honda's sideview mirror fell off the car and police are searching for the car and driver. The police officer, who suffered a head injury, is in stable condition at Bellevue.

I'll bet that this driver will in fact be charged with a crime, and maybe even see the inside of a jail cell.

Hmmm. What about all of the other drivers who've killed people and walked away scott-free?
