TV Dinners: August 27-September 2

tvdinner.jpgWhat’s worth watching, food-wise, on TV this week? Be warned: it’s the dog days of summer, so there’s not much new on the air…

Tonight on No Reservations (10pm on the Travel Channel), Bourdain goes to Cleveland, Ohio, where Michael Ruhlman shows him around town. Serious Eats recaps last week’s ep (visit to French Polynesia), shares the recipe for poisson cru.

Top Chef is a repeat this week. It’s the “All-Star” episode where top competitors from season 1 compete against those from season 2. You can read about the unfortunate demise of Tre last week on Bourdain’s blog here.

Martha Stewart continues in repeats this week (10am, NBC). She’s got Aussie Chef Neil Perry making lamb chops on Wednesday, and Chef Pasquale Martinelli on Thursday.

And PBS continues their Sunday afternoon five-show lineup, from 4-6:30pm. First up is Chef’s Story, this week featuring José Andrés, then Complete Pépin, with an episode on knife skills. The Best Recipes in the World with Mark Bittman is next with its premiere episode on rice with various dishes, followed by Lidia Bastianich on Lidia’s Italy, then by an episode on Cuba on Daisy Cooks! With Daisy Martinez.

That last episode of No Reservations really made me want to take a trip to the Pacific Islands.

How much you wanna bet the Cleveland episode doesn't have the same effect on me?
