A drunk man driving a Lincoln Aviator slammed into people delivering groceries at restaurant on Seventh Avenue South near Grove Street yesterday morning. Antonio Barranco Hernandez, who had taken a delivery shift over from his son, died after the impact of the SUV severed his leg. A witness told the Daily News, "[The SUV] was going very fast. The car cut his leg. The leg, right off."
The SUV was driven by NJ resident Christian Robinson. According to witnesses, Robinson seemed to lose control of his vehicle when he tried to avoid hitting another car. The Aviator then plowed into the parked van where Hernandez and other workers had been unloading groceries for the Mercadito restaurant. Augusto Bravo was pinned between the two cars, with his leg nearly severed, while Luis Romero, who was in the van, suffered deep cuts. Also taken to the hospital was 11-year-old Erick Bravo, the son of the van's driver, Victor Bravo (who was in the restaurant at the time of incident).
Robinson was charged with vehicular manslaughter, DWI, and vehicular assault. Bravo said of Robinson, "The driver got out of his car after the crash and put his hands on his head. He was so shaken and freaked out. He didn't know what to do." And Hernandez's son, Antonio Hernandez Jr., lamented to the Post, "I feel horrible, but now I'm responsible for my family. He was a good father. He supported me in everything I wanted to do. I can't believe this happened to him."
The accident took place at 7:20AM, when streets are less crowded and vehicles are more prone to speed. But really, 50 MPH?

There's always time to pile on drunk driving Jersey motherfuckers, especially in an SUV.
And as always they don't have to be drunk to drive like complete fucking assholes.
As much as I love driving in the city, Jersey people really do go off the chain when they get into Manhattan.
Its ridiculous.
9 times out of 10 when a driver almost kills me, the car has Jersey plates. They have the city anger without the city skills.

Thankfully it's not Chris Robinson or the Black Crowes.
Christian Robinson needs to face life in jail.

What a horrible thing to witness. However, it is true that Jersey drivers tend to drive like idiots in NYC.
...and this happens because everyone knows there are no laws when driving in NYC. Meaning, there are no laws that are enforced when driving in NYC.
That is a shame. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved. The sad thing is it couldve been avoided. Im sure his family have been well aware of his drinking problems. Enablement is just as bad. What is ironic is the gentleman who was murdered was a father to 4 now that makes 5 fatherless kids.
