Last Night's Action: A Tough Loss

  • Angels 7 Yankees 6 (10 innings):Extr Up and down, up and down, this game kept spinning. Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer to put New York ahead, but the Angels came back. Jorge Posada hit a homer to tie things up in the eighth, but the Angels wouldn’t relent. They made things very interesting in the bottom of the ninth, but Mariano escaped a huge jam.

Unfortunately, that left him unable to pitch the tenth and Joe Torre chose to go with Sean Henn over Ron Villone. After getting the first hitter in the inning, Henn surrendered back-to-back doubles to give the Angels the game. The Yankees will try again tonight.

  • Brooklyn 1 Staten Island 0: It was a pitcher’s duel in Brooklyn tonight as Clive Owen and Chris Farley both were brilliant, but Farley’s erratic first cost Staten Island the game. Farley hit the first batter he faced, walked the third and gave up a hit to the fifth, which allowed the only run of the game to score and Brooklyn finally won a game in this series. The teams conclude the four-game set tonight.

::giggle:: according to his bio, his name is Dylan. does he go by Clive or was that just an inadvertant typo? I know I've had Clive on the brain since watching "The Bourne Identity" more than a couple of times on USA Network this past weekend.

Seriously? Clive Owen against Chris Farley? That's awesome.
