  • Yankees 6 Tigers 1: In desperate need of starting pitching the Yankees turned to a reliable source. Andy Pettitte threw eight innings of five-hit ball shutting down the Tigers’ offense and giving his team a chance to win.

And, the offense responded with Bobby Abreu, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi and Andy Phillips providing big hits. With Boston splitting a doubleheader, the Yankees gained a ½-game in the standings. But, they will have to keep their eye on Seattle, their closest competition for the wild card.

  • Mets 6 Nationals 2: Tom Glavine was brilliant for victory #301 and the New York offense got key hits to provide the victory. Glavine's opponent on the mound, Matt Chico, was optioned by the Nationals following the game. In addition to being part of a highlight-reel double play, Jose Reyes stole his 61st and 62nd bases of the season.
  • Liberty 74, Sun 66: With the regular season of the WNBA ending on Sunday, the Liberty now control their playoff destiny. The win puts the Liberty in a tie with the Washington Mystics with one game to go. The Liberty has the tie breaker over Washington and hosts Chicago on Sunday. Win and you're in. Simple enough.
  • S.I. Yankees 9, Ironbirds 0: Three Yankees pitchers combined to shut Aberdeen down, allowing only 7 hits the whole game.
