Video of the Day: John Vanderslice @ The Hotel Chelsea

Last night (a little less than a month after the release of his latest album Emerald City) we met up with John Vanderslice, who has been playing a unique brand of blog shows for a while now. The world wide (web) tour consists of filming, in collaboration with different blogs, his songs in different cities. For his New York stop, we took him up to the roof of the Hotel Chelsea where he performed one of his songs...

Ed Hamilton, a resident of the Hotel Chelsea, may or may not have been one of John's professors at the University of Maryland! So he did his possible former teach a solid by plugging his book about the hotel at the end. See, he really is the nicest guy in indie rock.

Possible former teacher? What's that supposed to mean. I mean, I "may or may not" have been one of John's professors at U of M, but I'm leaning more towards the "may not" side.

John went to UVA. He's the nicest guy in music period, who cares about said some sub-sub-sub genre. Sorry I missed him.

Guest - not sure what you're talking about.

Josef - John got a degree in Econ from U of Maryland.

How old is he? He looks a little too long in the tooth for that silly outfit and hairstyle. Like an overgrown kid. Maybe the stress of trying to make it has aged him.

John really is the nicest guy in Indy rock. Be sure to check out his show. I'm not going to bother to check my old grade books because I'm sure I gave him a decent grade if he was in my class. -- Ed H.
