Look out, Jones Beach regulars. Trump’s moving in.
The NY Post is reporting that a $40 million complex called Trump on the Ocean, will be completed in 2009. The restaurant, including a lounge and catering facility for up to 1,500 people, will replace the former Boardwalk Restaurant. It’s the developer’s first stand-alone public facility purely for events.
According to a New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation press release, the lease between the OPRHP and Trump dictates that the project must be LEED-certifiable. Costs associated with LEED construction and certification are capped at $500,000 and are paid out of the facility’s Rehabilitation and Refurbishment account. A small percentage of gross receipts generated at the facility will be funneled into the account for improvements, which could go into the tens of millions over the course of the 50-year lease.
Trump also will pay the OPRHP an annual license fee of $200,000 as well as a percentage of gross receipts. The restaurant is expected to generate more than $10 million in sales tax revenue for Nassau County in the first ten years.
The Donald said in a statement that the facility will be both “beautiful” and “eco-friendly.” We’ve never heard Trump use the prefix "eco-" before. How cute!

GO Donald GO!! In my humble opinion, all new construction should be LEED certified. We have to start somewhere. As for The Donald, he is a Queens boy and I think he's cool!!
