Someone Really Loves Anderson Cooper
Thanks to Flickr, we've seen four instances of some "I ♥ Anderson Cooper" graffiti over the past week. The marker mash notes at the 14th Street 1/2/3 station, outside the 66th Street 1 station, inside the 72nd Street 1/2/3 station, and outside the 72nd Street 1/2/3 station, on the newstand's NY Sun stand.
We've yet to investigate all subway stations along the 7th Avenue IRT (though we think we may have seen it at Times Square) so we're not sure how far this crush has spread.

does anyone else think that Anderson Copper might be putting these up himself?
I was going to just make stickers, but using a marker just gets the message across better, don't you think?

Considering that he specifically avoids talking about being gay... I doubt lovelorn graffiti would be the best guerrilla campaign.

There's one on Lafayette just south of 13th Street too.
But maybe what you should really be explaining is the manic thing underneath.

There's a ton of these if you walk up 6th Ave. north of 23rd Street. I keep noticing them in the sidewalk sheds for the condos going up around 26th Street.

Man, ten years ago I used to have SUCH a thing for Anderson Cooper and it'd take me five minutes to explain to people who he was...fast-forward five years and he's got his own show and a three-story billboard in midtown...fast-forward another five and he gets his own graffiti. I think it's safe to say that having a secret crush on Anderson Cooper is officially no longer edgy.
I wouldn't be shocked that this is some sort of viral marketing from Time Warner.

wow- What's with all the gay comments, did anyone stop to think that maybe a man wrote it? It looks like a guy's handwriting to me. Do chicks have a monopoly on "I [heart] _____" grafitti?
