Last Night's Action: Beating The Bucs

  • Mets 5 Pittsburgh 4: El Duque struck out eight, but he was also wild, walking five and allowing three runs over six innings. Moises Alou gave the Mets the lead with a two-run single in the eighth and Lastings Milledge made a great catch in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win. Billy Wagner worked a flawless ninth for his 27th save.
  • Baltimore 12 Yankees 0: Scooter would have left this game early to beat the bridge traffic and perhaps that’s what the Yankees had in mind. Jeff Karstens was awful and Jim Brower not much better as New York trailed 11-0 after six and a depressing night at the Stadium came to a quick end.
  • Chicago 77 New York 65: The Liberty led by four at the half, but couldn’t hold on for the win and fell to 0-12 on the year when they score less than 70.
