The police are still looking for clues in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Rayquon Story on a 5 train early yesterday morning. Apparently Story and his friends may have fought with another group at an earlier party. Police believe that the other group followed Story's party to the train at East 180th Street in the Bronx; while on the train, one person shot Story and three of his friends.
The gunman fired six or seven times, and when police arrived at the Dyre Avenue stop, Story was dead, a 20-year-old was shot in the stomach, a 22 -year-old was shot in the arm, and an 18-year-old was shot in the pinkie. Story's uncle tells the Daily News that Story was not involved with the fight at the earlier party. Fred Brown added that his nephew tried to stop the fighting on the train, "He got in the middle to break up the argument while they were on the train."
According to the News, there have been 1,1157 felonies on subways so far this year; the current average of 6.1 is a far cry from the average of 47.9 felonies a day back in 1990. And Story's mother, Tornette, spoke to the NY Times and begged that witnesses contact the police with information, "Come forward. Tell the police what they saw. What they know. Somebody saw something. Send a letter. Send a smoke signal.”

Tragic. My condolences to the family.
Will the community support this grieving mother, or will they support the "Stop Snitchin" lifestyle?

Please edit the important errors! Is that 1,157? or 11,157? These are significant details, Jen!
Numerous grammatical errors have removed all trust in Gothamist's product... at what point do you finally acknowledge you need to hire a copywriter?!
#2:
are you retarded? do the math...
1,157 (one thousand, one hundred, fifty seven)...
5 felonies a day
(today, August 13th is the 231st day of the year) — not a big impact at all.
sheesh...
Maybe the "victim" shouldn't have been fighting in that 'hood??
Just a thot.
Just heard on Fox 5 news that the perp has been arrested. Guess what? It looks like yet another Latino making the news! Way to go!
BTW the other suspect making the news is still on the lamb - the one from Queens suspected of molesting young girls...cough cough
remember that's 1,157 REPORTED felonies. If it's not reported it doesn't count and most folks know that nothing ever gets solved.
