Pencil This In

THEATER: Described as Damn Yankees meets Ed Wood, the screwball musical LOST IN HOLLYWOODLAND is a goofy retelling of the Faust myth, with a lowly production assistant’s assistant standing in for the good doctor. (Naturally, a film producer serves as the devil.) The fun begins when the peon signs away his soul for fame and fortune. Having killed ‘em in Buffalo, the production now takes Manhattan via the New York Fringe Festival. - John Del Signore

6:45pm // Our Lady of Pompei – Demo Hall [25 Carmine St] // Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15.

2007_08_arts_casa.jpgMOVIE: The 1942 classic Casablanca screens at Bryant Park tonight. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, love, intrigue, ex-patriotism and much more play out on the big screen. The film first premiered at the Hollywood Theater in New York on November 26, 1942, "to coincide with the Allied invasion of North Africa and the capture of Casablanca."

Sundown // Bryant Park // Free

MUSIC: No one reminded us to get Justin Timberlake tickets, so we guess we'll have to settle for someone who isn't bringing sexy back. Sigh. To be honest, there's not a whole lot going on in the way of music tonight, but the show at Knitting Factory looks pretty interesting - and suspiciously like a Stolen Transmission showcase. Head to the Tap Room to catch Portugal the Man, PlayRadioPlay!, The Photo Atlas and The Only Children.

Listen: Stables and Chairs.mp3 - Portugal the Man

7pm // The Knitting Factory [74 Leonard St] // $12

PARTY: While the flyer for tonight's Unclean Unclean party promises "free physicals for the first 200 people!" - the email announcement promises custom designed jeans by Mark Ecko for the first 16. We are guessing these things are Untrue Untrue, and suggest you go and get down and dirty knowing that there will at the very least be music and alcohol.

9:30pm // Gallery Bar [120 Orchard St] // Free

COMEDY: John Mulaney fills in as host for Aziz Ansari's Crash Test tonight. The show is free but the reservations fill up fast, so reserve a spot now if you need some funny in your Monday. Mulaney will welcome Dan Allen, Chris Gethard and Eugene Cordero, Michelle Collins and Dave Hill to the stage.

11pm // UCB Theater [307 W 26th St] // Free
