Last Night's Action: Break Out The Brooms
- Yankees 5 Cleveland 3: New York has passed the first big test on their current schedule, sweeping Cleveland and improving to 15-games over .500. Sunday’s win was the toughest of the series as Andy Pettitte and Jake Westbrook locked into a pitcher’s duel for the first part of the game before the Yankees jumped out to a 4-0 lead. But, Cleveland made things interesting in the ninth.
Trailing 5-2, Cleveland got three-straight hits off of Mariano Rivera to cut the lead to 5-3, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out. But, Rivera got the next three hitters to strike out, strike out and fly out, to preserve the game and give the Yankees the sweep.
- Mets 10 Marlins 4: When Ramon Castro had to leave the game with back trouble, the Mets may have regretted putting Paul LoDuca on the DL against his will. But, they still managed to win with Mike DiFelice catching and Moises Alou swatting two home runs.
- Brooklyn 4 Auburn 2: The Cyclones scored three times in the sixth for the victory and head into the All-Star Break with a series win over the Doubledays.
- Jamestown 3 Staten Island 1: Chris Farley gave up two runs in the first and that was all the Jammers needed as their pitchers kept the Baby Bombers’ bats under wraps.
- New York 85 Detroit 84: Finally some life at the Garden! Erin Thorn’s jumper at the buzzer gave the Liberty their best win of the year.
- Red Bulls 3 Toronto 0: Jozy Altidore scored twice to lead the Red Bulls to victory.

Oh man, a Yankees playoffs? I was just getting excited for football. Considering ESPN's yankee loving knows no bounds, everything will take a back seat to this.

Ha, that's funny... most Yankee fans think ESPN is a Latin abbreviation for "Yankee hater" --- especially Joe (my Reds were the best team of all time) Morgain and the clowns on Baseball Tonight (like Kruk). Steve Phillips is the worst, though he has an axe to grind with the Mets, too.
Not saying you're wrong, just saying it's weird how everything looks different depending on who you pull for.
Jozy Altidore's second goal was really pretty.
ESPN loves the Red Sox. Fox (McCarver especially) loves the Yankees, so long as the Cardinals aren't the other option.
