Brooklyn Man Fatally Stabbed After Buying Milk

2007_08_bbstab.jpgA Brooklyn family is mourning the death of 44-year-old Anthony Senisi Jr., after he was stabbed on the way home from buying some milk Saturday night. Senisi was attacked at Brighton Sixth Street and Brighton Fourth Terrace, near his apartment building. He walked home and collapsed in his 77-year-old father's arms, saying, "Daddy, call the police, someone hit me."

Anthony Senisi Sr. also told the Daily News about the frantic events after seeing his son stagger down the street. First, he made his grandson go inside the house ask for help, so he wouldn't see his bleeding father.

"His son went upstairs, saying, 'Mommy, Daddy's on the floor,'" Senisi said.

Senisi said he was angry at the confusion that ensued when police arrived.

"Cops, they pushed my son Jeffrey," said Senisi, whose other son, Joseph, is a Brooklyn cop. "I asked them, 'What gives?' And they turned on me."

He also said police cars blocked access to the street, forcing emergency workers to push a gurney to the house from a nearby corner, wasting precious time.

Police believe that suspect Mejia Cinto may have thought Senisi beat him up earlier in the day; however, Senisi, who would have celebrated his 17th wedding anniversary yesterday, had been with his wife and kids. Witnesses say that Cinto ran to a Q train after stabbing Senisi Jr. They are asking for the public's help in finding Cinto.

Senisi Sr. lamented, "Why didn't I go with him to the store? Maybe they would have gotten me instead of him."

NYPD once again dropping the ball and showing their stuff. There are as highly trained as a donut shop employee. Be nice to see the city raise the wage so they could employ some intelligent officers.

user-pic

well not just raise the wage but raise the standards too.

"throught"?

What the hell is that? Are you guys letting the ESL kids write the articles again?

The NYPD is paid significantly more than the vast majority of law enforcement officers in the rest of the nation. While the city did recently lower the starting salary to $25,100.00, that only affects officers during the first 6 months (training at the police academy). This is directly from the NYPD recruiting website:

Annual base salaries for officers hired during

January 2006 or after:

Police Academy (first six months): $25,100 (Annualized)
Upon completion of six months: $32,700
Upon completion of 1 ½ years: $34,000
Upon completion of 2 ½ years: $38,000
Upon completion of 3 ½ years: $41,500
Upon completion of 4 ½ years: $44,100
Upon completion of 5 ½ years: $59,588

* These salaries do not include overtime earnings, night-shift differential, holiday pay and uniform allowance.

When including base salary, average overtime and night shift differential, holiday pay, and uniform allowance, a Police Officer earns over $35,000, on average, in the first year; $45,000, on average, in the second year; $77,000, on average, after 6 years.

Not bad for a job that you can get with just an A.A. or A.S. degree or 2 years military service in lieu of college. REALLY NOT BAD AT ALL when you can apparently make it onto the force and be a hit-man for mob, or have an underaged girlfriend engage in a check-cashing scam.

Jen Chung strikes again!

Actually, officers in most New England states and Long Island get more money in less time. And suburban officers don't have to deal with nearly as much "active" service as NYC officers. Compare sitting in a car waiting for teenagers to speed by a corner to getting dozens of calls during any one shift.

If it were that great for the money, there wouldn't be a recruiting problem.

And you can retire in 20 years? Overpaid!

Considering New York State Troopers get paid more to sit on the Thruway and hand out speeding tickets, they're underpaid.

Considering the benefits, the retirement age, and being about the only people in the city legally allowed to protect yourself, it's pretty fair.

a random killing in brighton beach? im i callous for thinking this might be mob-related?

OK. So let me get this straight. Some poor guy gets stabbed while buying milk and all you care to comment on is whether the NYPD is overpaid or underpaid? Huh?!!!

#3, compare nyc cops salaries to westchester and long island and aforementioned nys thruway fucks, plus standard of living in ny and the dangers of a big city job.

Comparing urban and rural jurisdictions with respect to amount of work cops have to do is apples and oranges. How about comparing urban areas? NYC pays less than LA and Seattle but far more than Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, D.C., New Orleans, Miami, Dallas, Houston, SF, Phoenix, SLC, Las Vegas, and Colorado Springs (based on quick google search). While other departments often have a higher starting salary, after several years on the job NYC salaries outpace other cities by a pretty healthy margin. Let's also not forget the VERY generous retirement benefits that NYC gives its finest ($1,900,000.00+ according to the NYPD recruitment website.)

Plus let's not forget that 95% of the time the NYPD is doing nothing 'cept sitting in their air-conditioned cruisers eating donuts.

You are 100% correct JROD! I lived right across the street from Anthony and am devastated. All these other numbnuts can do is bitch about the damn cops. The artcle is about ANTHONY not the nypd. Rest in peace Anthony :o(........Denise
