THEATER: Collective Unconscious, the unstoppable renegade host of innumerable far-out theatrical experiments, wraps up their Undergroundzero Festival this weekend. Paul Bargetto, mastermind behind the fest and former resident cage-dweller in C.U.’s old Ludlow basement, invited some of his favorite shows from ‘07 to further develop their work for new eyes. So tonight you can go directly to Go!, which won “Best Original Script” at the San Francisco Fringe Fest. Then stick around for SICK: Sick of it All, which premiered in May at the Ontological Incubator series. SICK portrays “heartbreak in a time of hyper-militarization: an ensemble of physically challenged actors depict the story of life lived amidst broken pieces of the state.” We hear there’s grapefruit projectiles involved. - John Del Signore

Friday // 7:30 & 9:30pm // Collective Unconscious [279 Church St] // Tickets cost $15.

MUSEUMS: Queens Museum of Art invites you to bring a picnic blanket to Flushing Meadows Corona Park for their Passport Fridays Free International Outdoor Film, Dance and Music Series. "The weekly outdoor festivities feature dance performances by participants in the QMA/TOPAZ Arts Dance in Queens Residency Program, and continue with a live concert and film screening from one of the many countries that fuel Queens' cultural & artistic vitality." This week they celebrate South Africa with the African Underground Allstars. The film U-Carmen E-Khayelitsha will also be shown.

Friday // 6:30 to 10pm // Queens Museum of Art // Free

Follow up your Friday with QMA with a Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum. It's another First Saturday series this weekend and this time they celebrate with the West Indian–American Day Carnival Association for an evening of steel pan music, stilt walkers, Carnival costumes, and more! Details here.

Saturday // 5pm to 11pm // Brooklyn Museum [200 Eastern Parkway] // Free

THEATER: Ian W. Hill’s Necropolis cycle is back from the dead; tonight a cast of thousands (okay, 21) perform Parts 1 & 2. The daring production is described as a “film noir pastiche-play consisting of collaged dialogue from over 150 noirs, as well as quotes from our current U.S. Administration and other pertinent sources, combined into an original spellbinding, semiabstract, dreamlike tale of corruption, betrayal, and revenge.” It’s performed “dubbed,” with all dialogue, sound effects, and music prerecorded and played behind the actors, who enact it as a complex, choreographed movement piece. Time Out NY said the 2005 premiere “achieves a breathtaking effect, amplified by moments of recognition . . . stunning style and tour-de-force text.” - John Del Signore

Saturday // 8pm // The Brick Theater [575 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn] // Tickets cost $10.

MUSIC: Recent Gothamist interviewee and Kathy Griffin arm candy Andrew W.K. is at the Highline Ballroom this Saturday, and not for a motivational talk, either. The W.K. is here to rock and, we suppose, party hard. More details here. Ultragrrrl deejays.

Saturday // 11pm to 4am // Highline Ballroom // $8

EVENT: Step in to the recently landmarked McCarren Park Pool for another Pool Party this Sunday! The lineup this time around includes: Blonde Redhead, I’m From Barcelona, & The Coydogs. And don't worry about the humidity, there are mist tents and a slip n' slide to cool you off.

2pm // McCarren Park Pool, Greenpoint // Free

Wind down in MoMA's "secret (summer)garden" this Sunday evening. Step in through the gates and away from the madness to enjoy a free, outdoor concert by The Juilliard Ensemble.
