New York Rocks the Restaurant Scene

291360039_a1bcf8887e.JPGThis month's Bon Appetit is the restaurant issue, highlighting recipes from restaurants all across the world, but our own Little Owl made the cover photo with their delectable meatball sliders. Other hometown shout-outs went to The Good Fork, for their Korean-style steak and eggs, a spiced plum chutney from Tabla, and WD-50's music playlist (including one of our current obsessions, Hall & Oates).

A feature article focuses on some of our finest pastry chefs, who straddle the line between sweet and savory: Sam Mason, Pichet Ong, and Will Goldfarb, and two of our hometown stand outs, Di Fara and Peter Luger, have been nominated as two of America's top restaurants in the pizza and steak categories, respectively. Tune in to the Food Network on August 18th when Alton Brown announces the winners.

The issue isn't yet online, but should be soon, so keep checking. In the meantime, if you're jonesing for some meatball sliders, Joey Campanaro's recipe can be found here.

Apropos of nothing beyond the mention of Alton Brown: I liked the food network better when it was about cooking food, rather than watching people eat food.

You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

[1], especially because that's apparently what the Travel Channel is about now, right?

Aside from the original standouts (alton brown, iron chef, mario batali) the food network has gone to hell in a whole foods canvas bag. the only good cooking shows to watch these days are on PBS.

[3] Well, see, they're eating food in exotic locations. So, uh ... it's traveling, right?

I look forward to the coming conversion of ESPN to people eating while playing sports, and Mtv's move to shows about people eating while listening to music.

those meatball sliders look amazaing...Hall and Oates at WD-50 even better, Abandoned Luncheonette, is their best.

With regards to this months Bon Appetite, the article about the restaurant Spring in Paris is great.
