PARTY: Nostalgic for the Blackout of 2003? Someone has put together an event that will recapture the night of no lights so we can all enjoy it once again (with reassuring knowledge that the contents of the fridge aren't melting back at home). Stain's blackout party will be complete with candles, canned goods, beer, a battery-run boombox, board games, grilling and other non-electricity-dependent activities.
8pm // Stain [766 Grand St, Williamsburg] // Free
MUSIC: Before or after getting your fill of blackout-related fun, head to Luna Lounge for some plugged-in rock with American Watercolor Movement, Thomas Simon - Musicians Sans Frontieres, Furglance and The Exeter Popes.
7pm // Luna Lounge [361 Metropolitan Ave] // $tba
MOVIE: CineKink presents (what else): Pornology New York. The evening will include a kinky movie, pizza and beer (Sigma Alpha Two Boots?) and is co-presented by the Pioneer Theater. The film itself is described as "a paean to the New York sexual underground, circa 1970-85, this engrossing documentary brings together four of its most colorful protagonists." Director Michele Capozzi, along with subjects Lenny Waller and Neville Chambers, will be present for a Q&A after the screening. More details here.
7pm // Pioneer Theater [155 E Third St] //$10
THEATER: Union Square’s DR2 theater is now home to what’s being promoted as the first play by an Israeli playwright about the Intifada. Ilan Hatsor’s Mask, translated by Michael Taub, focuses on three Palestinian brothers as it “tackles the cultural divide at the heart of the Middle East conflict.” Since that’s a lot to tackle, many performances will have guest speakers on hand for post-show talk backs. (See website for details) - John Del Signore
7pm // DR2 [103 East 15th St] // Ticket prices vary.
COMEDY: Last night we checked out Daniel Kitson's amazing comedy show at Mo Pitkins. After the over 90-minute set however, we're looking forward to a night of fast-paced funny. Ritalin Readings is just what the doctor ordered (sorry)! Tonight features Jesse Popp, Brent, Sullivan, Jon Friedman, Aileen Gallagher, Julie Klausner, Joe Mande and Chelsea Peretti. The Observer recently called the latter funny girl the new Sarah Silverman, go see if they're right.
7pm // Mo Pitkins [34 Ave A] // $6
