Pencil This In

HEADS UP: Last year we had Daniel Kitson join our Laughable Hype comedy show, and we've been eagerly awaiting his return to the states since then. Good news...he's back! We strongly urge you to buy tickets right now so you can catch the special performance on Monday at Mo Pitkins. These will go fast Sold out! But this just in...Kitson will also be performing at Union Hall this Sunday at 9pm (first come first served).

2007_07_arts_ics.jpgEVENT: Brownstoner points us towards a green-minded ice cream social tonight. Urban Studio Brooklyn and eco-eatery Habana Outpost come together for an "Ecologically Minded Ice Cream Sandwich Social." On hand will be frozen mojitos, grilled corn, ice cream sammies and plenty of folk to discuss livin' la vida verde with.

6:30 to 9:30pm // Habana Outpost [757 Fulton Street] // Free

MOVIE: A free movie on the Hudson River? Sounds perfect. Tonight check out the latest River Flicks screening where Keanu Reeves and sci-fi converge on the big screen in The Matrix. This is the original one, so no crazy rave scenes or ridiculousness. Did we mention the popcorn is free, too?

8pm // Pier 54 // Free

MUSIC: If you want to take advantage of the nice weather, get up to Central Park for the free Brooklyn Philharmonic concert. They will be performing Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. The Violin soloist is Lara St. John, a slightly controversial classical musician.

7:30 pm // Central Park, Naumburg Bandshell // Free

Elsewhere...our recent interviewee, Natasha Khan, is at Knitting Factory tonight as her band Bat For Lashes takes the stage. Buy tickets here, or via texting!

Listen: Tahiti.mp3

8pm // Knitting Factory [74 Leonard St] // $10

THEATER: Got Harry Potter fever and not satisfied with the massive new book, movie release and total media saturation? Then The Magic of Mrs. Crowling is the play for you. Sick of the Harry Potter hype blasting at you from all sides of the 24 hour news cycle? According to the show’s publicity materials, The Magic of Mrs. Crowling is also for you! (We’re not sure how that works, and unfortunately there’s nothing in the press release about a post-show rumble between the pro and anti-Potter camps.) At any rate, the new play by Brian Silliman concerns a terminally ill boy and his love for the “Henry Shield” fantasy novels of “A.R. Crowling”. When his father arranges for a meeting with his favorite author, Crowling magically leads him across the threshold between reality and fantasy. - John Del Signore

8pm // The Kraine Theater [85 E 4th St] // Tickets cost $18

Ecological Ice Cream Social? Can't these fucktards just be good citizens of the earth without having a party where they all pat each other on the back and feel good about themselves?

Can't they be good citizens without anonymous commenters making angry remarks about them for no apparent reason?

I actually have a reason. You failed to either understand or competently retort. But you made a personal attack on me which is highly typical.
