Police Say Woman Ran Over Boyfriend Who Tried to Stop Her From Driving Drunk
A terrible drunk driving story from Long Island: Suffolk County police say that 26-year-old Louis Wiederer was trying to stop his drunk girlfriend from driving after a Saturday night block party. Newsday reports that a witness heard Wiederer say, "You're going to get arrested. You can't drive like that!" but 27-year-old Jesenia Vega ignored him, saying "Leave me alone!"
With that, Vega, 27, of Carle Place, put her key in the ignition and drove off -- as Wiederer hung onto an open window. She continued north, dragging him on the pavement, then underneath her car, before coming to a stop three blocks later, police and witnesses said.Steiner said Vega's car ran through two stop signs before stopping. Newsday says that Wiederer was dragged so long that his shoes came off, and when he was "lodged underneath the vehicle" (police believe he lost his grip and fell under the car) "a trail of skid marks and blood" were left in the road. Authorities pronounced Wiederer dead at the scene.Jay Steiner, 60, a retired nurse, who lives near the scene, rushed to the man's aid.
"Oh, my God," Steiner recalled Vega telling him. "Don't tell me I just killed my fiance."
A block party attendee said the couple was arguing when Vega tried to leave, "It looked like he was hitting her, but he was trying to stop her... She was totally irrational." Vega was charged with DWI; she was arraigned and pleaded not guilty. Her family had no comment, but Wiederer's brother said, "He cared about other people more than he cared about himself."

this bitch deserves to fry for this. first, to entertain driving drunk shows a blatant disregard for human life; but to drag her fiancee to his death? EGREGIOUS disregard of human life. absolutely disgusting.

She will get what she deserves by law-- and if she doesn't that's ok because she'll be living in her own private hell for the rest of her life for killing the man she claims she loved.

We don't need any more people this stupid in the world!if she gets a drunk driving and an involuntary-manslaughter charge and then conviction, she'll be getting off easy and sadly, i think that's what it will be.

If ever there was a case for throwing someone away, this is it. This girl went past stupidity to completely dangerous. She obviously lacks some basic ability to judge a situation and shouldn't be out in the general population.
This is terrible. Poor guy probably saved someone else's life.
How sad. I'm guessing the judge will get to say "blatant disregard for others" during her sentencing...

I live off of Tree road in Centereach LI, which is where this happened. I drove in my friend's car last night and saw where the street has been swept, although you can still see a thick trail of blood from where his head was dragging
How tragic. Just yesterday some poor woman was killed by a truck while she was trying to save her daughter from being hit. We need tougher laws for driving while asshat. You can't keep letting drivers kill pedestrians and let them get away with it.

I can't clean this one up . She purposely got behind the wheel and drove off knowing her man was hanging onto the car . She purposely ran him over and should be charge with his death . No sympathy for what she did, but you all know that this case will find it's way through the system and she probably won't get the max. She'll probably claim his was having some emotional issue and the judge will make a "Limited" example of he with some jail time and that will be the end of it . Posted by; "Still Not Amused"
I WAS AT THE BLOCK PARTY. I HEARD PEOPLE HAD SAID THE BLOCK PARTY WAS THE CAUSE.. DO YOU BLAME BARS OR BARTENDERS FOR SEVRVING DRINKS? MY FAMILY ALWAYS ENSURED NO ONE UNDERAGE WAS DRINKING. THIS WAS UNFORSEEN AND VEGA SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HER ACTIONS..SHES AN ADULT THATS IT...
