  • Mets 5 Reds 2: Oliver Perez made a triumphant return from the disabled list pitching six innings and striking out six while leading the Mets to victory. Perez’s start was just part of the excellent pitching by the Mets as Feliciano, Heilman and Wagner combined for the final three innings while only allowing one baserunner.

Jose Reyes was 2-for-3 with a home run and Ramon Castro continued to show what a great backup he is with a 2-for-3 day of his own. The Mets will now head to California for seven games with the Padres and Dodgers.

  • Yankees 7 Tampa 6: This game had a little bit of everything, clutch hitting, a near ejection, catcher’s interference and some spectacular defensive plays. Mariano Rivera had two men on a no-outs in the ninth, but got the next three batters to record his 13th save.
  • Vermont 7 Staten Island 2: Delin Betances wasn’t very good, but Craig Heyer really took it on the chin, giving up five runs and seven hits in three innings.
  • Brooklyn 8 State College 1: The Cyclones did a rare thing, rapping out thirteen hits, all of them singles, but still scoring eight runs.
