Best Seat in the House at Citysol

Brooklyn Vegan was co-presenting yesterday's Citysol concert at Solar One on the Lower East Side's Stuyvesant Cove, so we're sure he'll have a post on the proceedings shortly. However, we must point out an awesome photograph from Gothamist reader TomVu, who snapped this picture of Les Savy Fav bassist Syd Butler taking his child to work with him.

Seriously?!?
if rock n roll wasn't already dead before that picture was taken, it certainly is now.
To the retard that keeps posting links to that carbon footprint page: Your data is entirely misleading.
that baby looks like he's having a great time :)
He does! And he looks like he's snapping his fingers, too!
that baby can't hear anything. But Yeah Rock and Roll has been dead and now they've dug up it's grave, taken a steaming pile of shit and shoveled it onto it. That is sad. Cute but sad. It's like when AAron Carter started rapping and you knew that Hip Hop died.
Rock & roll only dies when one loses one's sense of humor; it's an internal event. Music lasts forever if you want it to.
No matter how much noise-cancelling is happening in those headphones, that can't be good for the baby.
Those look like the sort of heavy-duty earmuffs that are used on lawnmowers, and by the guys who work on airport tarmacs. They're definitely not headphones.
In other words, I doubt that any noise at all is making it to that baby's ears.
aging hipsters are the anti-cool
I don't think those ear muffs were designed for babies and toddlers. to be safe, I would double up with earplugs and muffs.
the hipster scene never ceases to amaze me.
That kid is wearing Vans.
People who "wear" their children facing out at such a young age are idiots, whether they are at rock concerts, performing at rock concerts or just walking down the street. Babies need bonding, love, and a feeling of safetyat such a tender age. Just because they don't "express" panic by being in such a vulnerable situation doesn't mean that its OK. Get a clue and take care of your kids.
Hipster bassists with babies make me vomit in my mouth alittle.
oh, come on. the baby was on stage for just one song before he took her backstage (i think she's a girl, named lila). it was cute. and anyone who saw tim harrington brilliantly freaking out on stage would not say that rock and roll is dead.
Oy, you all take the fun out of everything.
all these haters obviously have never heard or seen les savy fav.

You couldnt be more right; this is classic Les Savy Fav.
Those probably reduce sound by 25db if worn properly (possibly not on a small baby head). Super strong earplugs reduce sound by 32-34db, also if used correctly, but are way to big for that baby. Most hearing protection lets in a lot of lower frequencies.
At least the kid is getting a lesson on hearing protection early on.
Twenty-something hipsters who are scared of children make ME want to vomit in my mouth a little. Jesus, lighten up! Rock is music, not a fashion accessory to go with your skinny jeans. Dangling child or not, if the band rocks, they rock. Period.

lighten up you jerks...this was a dare and if you cant say this is rock n roll than get over yourself..come on!!! seriously. this was hillarious. everyone in the crowd laughed their asses off, then the band proceeded to rock the house intensely as they're always prone to do live.
oh, when les savy fav USED to be good—those were the days, hm?
i really hate bands that employ gimmicks to overshadow their loss of finesse and interest in making good (i.e. challenging) music instead of deez $$$$.
regarding the earmuffs:http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/product/Peltor_Kid_Earmuffs
regarding if he makes a good father... Do you know him? His Daughter seems happy in the pic, no? She's not crying, there are no bruises on her. If people at the concert say she was in good spirts then wouldn't that mean she was? Im sure her mother was close by and keeping a keen eye on the "Dare" as one poster called it.
I have been to other concert events with children- should they no be there too? Maybe the sound on stage is Controlled- don't musicans always talk about the monitors and being able to adjust the levels?
i hope that he checked with a doctor on this one and took all the steps to make sure the kid was safe.
Being that the sound at the show was pathetically low already, plus the industrial ear protection, that kids ears were fine. Anyone who says differently is just trying ot pick an internet board fight. Although it's pretty par for the course that people who weren't there to begin with would complain.
Great show, btw.
I know his daughter and she is out of her fucking mind. Had teeth at 4 months and demands her bottle at all hours of the day. If anyone should be worried about abuse here it's Syd. That kid is a monster.
can someone define a hipster? (And why would anyone care if they are aging... )
it's fine to hate a style but to say you or people can't have that style or way of thinking in the age is retarded. If im a consertive and love LL bean/Jcrew as a teenager am i not allowed to wear it as i get older?
ahhh... the fashion police and their laws of culture and style.
boring.
Bringing your child to work/play and including them in community is what is missing in our culture. I applaude Syd (and Amy) for giving their daughter the experience. Other cultures, especially Latino, stitch music into everyday life. We should!
As Kelly Clarkson’s #1 fan I am offended by most all of the comments on this board. Ok, got your attention?? Then listen up all you uptight negative retards that don't have a clue about what you are writing about because you were not there and are "blogging from your cubicle at work". 95% of you couldn't even keep a goldfish alive for more than a week so please shut your pie holes when it comes to how other people raise their kids. I am pretty sure most of you have more than a few major things that you should be working on to make your life better so maybe get to work on those??? Oh and btw, that dumb bassist has a higher IQ than most of your post grad college professors, so being that he is around loud music for a living he and his mother might have more of a clue about what is ok for his little girls ears, being that most of your loud music experiences revolve around you and your appropriate iPod earbud volume level. WOOOHOOO!!!! YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY!!! Rock and Roll is only dead to people like you that comment on life from the cheap seats rather than going out and living life and taking a chance. If you were there, you knew it was awesome because it was. I feel sad for the ones that won’t ever get it. Don’t hate, participate… LSF4EVR!!!!!
i can't believe such idiots exist in this city. that's what sad. i am so sure that baby's just fine. probably way better than the legions of kids whose parents park them in front of the tv. as far as people disgusted by "aging" hipsters (as evidenced by having a baby?)...what would you suggest? anyway i saw that show and if that ain't rock n roll i don't know what is. $%&^*&^ baby fer chrissakes or not.
I mean this guys is way better than my father. He's an inspiration. As for the anti children and ageing hipster comments, you should be lucky that someone would even consider wanting to reproduce with your negative ass. And it seems to me that anti-ageing comments come from those who look and feel like shit at tender ages. They probably fear it because things are not looking any better. I feel like I am maturing like a fine wine, and treasure the company and opinions of friends who are older than me. They have honed their assets and filtered the nonsense. The only thing I would do differently is give the a kid a harmonica or something.
