  • Yankees 7 Tampa Bay 3: If the Yankees are going to start winning regularly they will need more nights like this. A-Rod, Jeter and Abreu homered to pace the attack and Andy Pettitte gutted out 5 2/3 innings for the win. Before the game, A-Rod announced that he will not discuss a new conteact with the Yankees until the season is over.
  • Mets 3 Reds 2: Jose Reyes and Ruben Gotay started the game off with back-to-back home runs and El Duque pitched six strong innings and stole a base. Before the game the Mets announced that Lastings Milledge had been recalled from AAA and Julio Franco had been designated for assignment. Unless another team steps forward, it seems like Franco’s quest to play until he is 50 will fall a year short.
  • Indiana 79 Liberty 63: The Liberty lost to the best team in the league, as they got blown out in the first half and couldn’t get back into the game.
  • Staten Island 9 Auburn 5: Jeff Karstens started his trip back to the majors with five shutout innings and eight strikeouts.
  • Brooklyn Splits a Doubleheader: The Cyclones won the first game 6-3, but lost the second 7-3.
