The police raided the office of Queens City Councilman Dennis Gallagher yesterday - and they were looking for DNA evidence of a sexual assault. The Juniper Park Civic Association President Robert Holden told the Sun he saw police officers taking evidence, "They just had boxes they were carrying. Bags and boxes of their tools." The Post got details of the alleged crime:
Gallagher met the woman at Danny Boy's, a bar where he's a regular, on Dry Harbor Road near both his district office on Metropolitan Avenue and his family's home, according to several sources. The sources said the two had apparently noticed each other on earlier visits to the bar.The Queens DA will put the case before a grand jury next week.Gallagher and the woman - described as in her 40s - spent time together at the bar, and then the lawmaker brought her back to his office, the sources said.
The legislator has a separate, smaller office above his storefront district headquarters, which is where they went, several sources said.
They had sexual relations, the sources said. The woman reported to police within a matter of hours that she'd been assaulted.
She made a compelling enough case that cops executed a search warrant on the office and were looking to gather DNA evidence at the scene, sources said.
But investigators are leery because of how much alcohol was involved, sources said.
Gallagher is married, but a neighbor told the Daily News the Gallaghers fought and "that she once saw him sleeping in his car behind his house at 4 a.m." Gallagher, one of three Republicans in the City Council, denies any wrongdoing.

I'm a resident of Middle Village, and I live a mere few blocks from where all of this went down, and this only confirms what kind of people run this community. We need a change!
Is he the guy who gives a block party in Middle Village every year?
Dennis is a good man who cares about his community very much. I am sure these ALLEGATIONS are unfounded.
Hmm. The Post's skepticism is actually pretty comforting. I will leave this for the judge to decide, as I have only bits of the story, but sometimes men need as much protection from false allegations of rape as women need from rape itself.
I also think the "one drop of alcohol and it's rape" law really ought to change.
Although in fairness, an office doesn't seem like a great place for a date. With a $100,000+ salary, you'd think he could afford a hotel room.
whatta looker!
"Although in fairness, an office doesn't seem like a great place for a date. With a $100,000+ salary, you'd think he could afford a hotel room."
In fairness, if you're trying to hide an affair from your wife going to a hotel room would be the worse place to go since they will probably have a record of you there, if not also a video of you and your slut on their surveillance cameras, and probably someone might recognize you since you're a local politician. The office would be a perfect place for a little hanky panky.
Is the job of City Council Member even a full-time position? I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that it's closer to a part-time job.
It seems like we have some real looneys in City Council. But then again, they didn't vote themselves in.
I have met Gallagher on more than one occasion I can't believe this is happening. The right thing to do is wait to see what happens in court. I hope for the sake of the people who voted for him this is false. I also feel bad for the Councilmember's who are worthy enough to say that they have been elected to represent the communities. This brings awful attention to the City Council as a whole.
I hope for the sake of the people who voted for him this is true. He's the most corrupt son-of-a-bitch on the city council and fresh blood would be the best thing for his district. He sold porn out of a Catholic high school in 2000, was caught on wiretaps accepting bribes from building consultants in 2001 and is now orchestrating the destruction of a community landmark, St. Saviour's Church. He is an absolute abomination and the indictment can't come fast enough.
Gallagher is, unfortunately for the people of Queens, pure pond scum and almost as smart. I hope this not only leads to his ejection from office, but damages the political payola machine that keeps him in office.
