THEATER: System of Units, a performance group from Siberia, begin their site-specific collaboration with the local “interventionist performance group” TRYST outside today starting at 12:00pm, when the temperature will transcend 90°. So if you think it’s stinking hot, just wait ‘til you see how the Siberians hold up in this six-hour performance. Called Security Zone, the two groups will create "a mock construction site that plays with perceptions of labor and public space, expectations of daily interactions, and attitudes toward leisure and work.” (Part of the excellent Sitelines series.) - John Del Signore
Noon-6pm, ongoing // Old Slip [Between Water & Front St, adjacent to the Police Museum] // FREE
MOVIE: It's the 2nd week of the L Magazine's SummerScreen movie series. This week come out to the pool and see Night of the Hunter, the 1955 film noir about a religious fanatic that marries and murders widows for their money ("believing he is helping God do away with women who arouse men's carnal instincts")!
7pm // McCarren Park Pool, Williamsburg // Free
MUSIC: The New York Philharmonic's 43rd annual Concerts in the Park series is underway. Tonight the free concert takes place in Prospect Park and will feature works by Berlioz, Mendelssohn, and Tchaikovsky. And if you didn't get enough fireworks last week...there will be more of those, too!
8pm // Long Meadow Ballfield, Prospect Park // Free
EVENT: New York magazine is up to its third event in its six part New York by New York event series. Tonight they bring together Zach Galifianakis and Band of Horses. Get ready for a "Bad Art Auction" with the former, and some music by the latter - the event will also act as a fundraiser for New York Cares.
8pm // Hiro Ballroom [363 West 16th St] // $30

There's also a food drive tonight at the Philharmonic concert, saw it in the Post yesterday. They're doing one at each NYC performance.
