After last week's broken up work schedule, we doubt anyone wants to face five consecutive days of the grind. But maybe this photograph, taken by reader La Mariposa at yesterday's Figment Festival, will cheer you up. Just don't dwell on how you missed it.
Metro has an article about the festival which took place on Governor's Island (an "artist built life-size rocking horses out of re-bar and tires") and here are some more Figment photographs: A set from Pro-Zak and a set from JimmyOK. And here are some other upcoming events on Governor's Island.

The photo was taken in Manhattan, not Gov. Island, but why quibble with details.
even if one didn't know the ferry to gov. is. is in the maritime building, you could read the sign in the background of the photo.
Hmm... a friend of mine did this yesterday, but when he originally described it, it didn't seem like people other than Burners were allowed to participate... or maybe that's just how I perceived it. Anyhoo, he said it was a fun time.
Welcome to the the Week?
Am I I missing something?
Elderta: I would say the 'regular folk' outnumbered the burners that were throwing it 4:1. 2500 people attended, and 2500 more were turned away because the ferry was at capacity ALL day!
I sometimes wonder about the psychology of a person putting on silver skin polish, Mauve leggings. fuschia underwear, ballerina shoes and a colored bikini top while going all willy nilly on a heavy traffic urban area. Is she celebrating the joy of life or is she a future serial killer?
That's the drop-off area for the ferry, with one car every, oh, five minutes. She's safely frolicing, and a very sweet lady. Several hundred people brought their children, who loved her and the other performance art. Who doesn't love a silver-painted fuschia-underwearing lady?
Looks like a future serial killer to me
aw, that serial killer is my sweetest and bestest friend. but she will cut you if you deserve it!
Practically ditto to the above comment... she is a professional frolic-er and paintee, and a woman whose tagline is I love my life!
