With The Sopranos gone, those wishing for a slice of gangster life and a free John Gotti poster can watch out for Mob Candy magazine. Back in May, Radar explained how the magazine came to be during a conversation between editor in chief Tyrone Christopher and publisher Frank DiMatteo and that the first issue would feature "articles on Don Carlo Gambino's legacy, 50 years of rats, FBI vs. Italian Americans, along with current mobster news, hot girls, hitmen, and contracts."
Yesterday, the Staten Island Advance suggests the new "Maxim for wiseguys" "may give some residents another reason to gripe about the borough's negative image," what with Staten Island bartender cover girl Mercedes Maia and a story about Chris Paciello, the Miami club owner with Staten Island roots. Hmm, if Borough President James Molinaro could boycott ice cream, will he put a kibosh on Mob Candy?
But the most intriguing thing about the magazine might be the fact that Danielle DiPietro is involved. You may remember her from the classic MTV True Life episode, "I'm a Staten Island Girl." (Time I'll Never Get Back has a funny recap; the DA was trying to get footage of the show to use in a case.) DiPietro was the aspiring actress on the show but now she is Mob Candy's vice president of advertising and sales. She told the Advance, "Most of the responses we've had have been very positive. People tell me 'I can't wait until it comes out.'"

Jen, I love ya, but it's Carlo Gambino.
Now withdrawing from the copy editing flame wars.
Hahaha, what a joke. This magazine would be good for about five minutes of entertainment.
Tim N., I love ya. Thanks, and I pulled the "Carlos" from Radar.
I give this pub three issues before folding. Six max.
I don't think so, if there's room enough for King, vice, xxl etc there's room for this.
there are only so many mobsters and people that would actually buy this, no?
I don't really think there is much of a 'mob' left in NYC or anywhere else, especially not enough to support a monthly lifestyle magazine. It might be somewhat interesting if it focused on mafia history etc., but from the looks of it, this mag seems to focusing on glorifying the lifestyle of mobsters. Most of the 'connected' folks I've run into over my lifetime as a native NY'er seem to be driving beatup Cutlasses and wearing track suits, not driving Mercedes and wearing Gucci loafers. Besides, isn't the most sacred of mob values "Keepin' Ya Mouth Shut"? Not too many willing interviewees I imagine.
Good points Emily, but just think of all the young Italian kids that will eat this up.
And the cover model is cross-eyed.
And the mob gets its money from providing a well-priced product with good customer service - not!
When you get right down to it - they're terrorists. Its what separates them from regular businessmen, who at least try/pretend to follow the law.
Personally, I was hoping that a pack of aggrieved arborists would have just said "Enough!" and gunned Tony down. That would'da been cool.
This magazine will do well. Just like F.E.D.S and Don Diva have for many many years. There is a market for it. Not just for mobsters and gangsters, but also the people who want to be like them.
Loser Central.
A Playboy knockoff for wiseguy wannabes?
This is great! I can't wait until they publish Nazi News Monthly
Free John Gotti poster inside.
Are any of the actors in the sopranos in there? they're looking for work. except for james gandolfini and little stevie. all the others will be back highjacking semi's.
Hey, the mag is out on newstands and actually its pretty good. they even got Victoria Gotti giving them stories, not johns daughter, his wife. Its not really glorifying the lifestyle its just tellin u about the history, theres other things to like restaurant and club reviews so its pretty cool.
