Whole Foods also has some inferior Pomme Frites, not to be confused with the real Pomme Frites at 123 Second Avenue.

Dude, I used to bike near that salt mountain all the time. It's like being at the edge of manhattan and all you see is a mountain of sodium. AWESOME!!!!

The funny thing about the Guss controversy is that the real deal is GUSS' Pickles, while the Whole Foods lable reads GUS'S Pickles.

That does it. You win, Jen. I'm hiding guest comments from now on. It's obvious Gothamist not only doesn't care about what guests have to write, you don't really want anybody to read what they write, either, so you make it damn near impossible to read. It disses the guests and it disses those of us who actually wanted to read their comments. To any guests with useful comments: I'm sorry I won't be reading them anymore. Blame Gothamist, who wants everybody to register but doesn't want to be labeled as "unwelcoming" by forcing registration. It's the coward's way out. "We'll let you post, but we'll piss off everyone who tries to read your comments so they'll stop. You might as well register if you want to be read."

I'm with Spiritof76. Is Gothamist trying to polish itself up in an attempt to cash in on Web 2.0 before the next crash? When are you guys selling out?

Yep, why does my comment have less weight because I don't want to attach my full name to it? It's not as if a commenting nickname is any kind of affirmative identification.

But I'm a guest, so I guess my opinion doesn't matter anyway.

I was stopped by the cops for trying to take that same picture! To take the shot you need to stand right next to the Harlem River Drive barrier. Just as I raised my camera, a cop car happened to drive by, and stopped to tell me that I wasn't supposed to be photographing the salt. Salt! They took my info but didn't issue me a ticket or anything (though they did ask if I had any drugs). I was trying to imagine their superior, with slanted brows, seeing that they were taking time to stop New Yorkers for taking pictures of salt...

Am I the only one who would rather cops be paying attention to violent crime than paying attention to video piracy? What's the excuse, the pirates fund terrorists?

#8: Considering that intellectual property is one of the few goods we still "make" in the United States, I think this is an excellent use of law enforcement's time.

And reasons why people don't want to create an account here and login to comment:

1) They don't need anymore fucking spam

2) We have enough "accounts" with websites that really do nothing. I can see having accounts for banking and utilities and such, but leisure reading? WTF?

user-pic

not to mention no matter how many times I've tried to sign up for an account I always get the same stupid response from the system, "email verification not complete"....where's the fucking email?
