Quick Hits: Two Captains into Hall; Kickball; NBA Nation

• The 2007 class for the Hockey Hall of Fame was announced yesterday, and Mark Messier and Scott Stevens were both on the list. Messier, the former Rangers captain, and 2nd on the NHL's all-time point list behind Wayne Gretzky, helped the Rangers end their 54-year Stanley Cup drought in 1994. In addition to winning the Cup with the Rangers, Messier won five championships with the Edmonton Oilers.

  Stevens helped lead the Devils to three Stanley Cups in 1995, 2000, and 2003. He was with the Devils for a span of 13 years before his retirement. The two players will be inducted on November 12th. Joining them are Ron Francis, Al MacInnis, and Jim Gregory.



• Tomorrow in McCarren Park is Brooklyn Kickball's Cross Borders Tournament. Starting at 2 p.m., teams from as far away as Toronto will be reliving their childhood glory (or failure) on the kickball diamond. In addition to copious amounts of kicking, there will be performances by Matter Antimatter and Villa Vina.


• Already missing the NBA? If so, NBA Nation will be at the South Street Seaport this weekend. There will be an 18-wheeler where you can watch the NBA's 50 Greatest Plays and a NBA Skills Challenge Competition. David Lee is supposed to appear and so was Channing Frye, but he's no longer with the team.
