2007_06_arts_wburg.jpgMOVIE: It was only a matter of time before a film about everyone's favorite hipster mecca graced the big screen. Come out to Galapagos to see Williamsburg: The Film tonight, it promises to be "a voyeuristic picture about seven artists living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and their comical, usually absurd, intertwining lives." The cast of characters ranges from "a coke-head film producer" to "a bulimic, failing, closet- homosexual male actor."

7:30pm (every Tuesday in June) // Galapagos [70 N 6th St] // $10

THEATER: Can’t be bothered to wait on line all day for Shakespeare in the Park? For $15 or less, venture to the other end of Shakespeare’s spectrum (and forgo The Public Theater’s extravagant production and celebrity casting) to check out Theatre of the Expendable’s Dick 2 (a.k.a. Richard II). True, it’s in the third floor of a building in Chelsea instead of the park, but their twisted style is sure to transport you away from all that: “What happens when a sensitive poetic boy becomes king of the world’s most powerful nation at 10? Without Prozac, the odds don’t look good. What does look good is the story of Shakespeare’s Richard II. Bursting at the seams with poets and thugs, fantasia and realism, martyrdom and brutality, DICK 2 offers one of the most mesmerizing political and psychological tales ever told." – John Del Signore

8pm // Joria Productions [260 W 36 St, 3rd Floor] // Tickets cost between $8-$15.
