Noteworthy Televison This Week: Two Tonys on Sunday

A look at some noteworthy television this week:

Color BarsThe 61st Annual Tony Awards (Sunday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) If you are a theatre fan you probably know this is already on. If you haven’t seen anything this year, think of this as a highlight reel. It also appears that they have broken tradition and have gone hostless this year.

The Sopranos (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., HBO) Undoubtedly this will be the most watched Tony on Sunday, since the show is getting whacked by HBO.

John From Cincinnati (Sunday, 10:00 p.m., HBO) The over hyped new HBO series apparently about surfing and aliens debuts.

America at a Crossroads: Kansas to Kandahar (Monday, 8:00 p.m., WNET 13) A look at an Army Reserve unit from Kansas that has been deployed to the war in Afghanistan.

Big Love (Monday, 9:00 p.m., HBO) The polygamy drama returns for another season.

In Our Hands: June 12, 1982: One Million People. One Voice (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) A look at the massive anti-nuclear weapons rally in Central Park in 1982 that wound up being the largest peace demonstration in history.

State Legislature (Wednesday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) An inside look at the Idaho State Legislature from documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman. We can only guess the sausage is less painful to watch getting made since Joe Bruno is not involved.

Top Chef (Wednesday, 10:00 p.m., Bravo) Bravo’s food based fakelity show returns this time with a crossover from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy as Ted Allen joins as a judge.

Rescue Me (Wednesday, 10:00 p.m., FX) The Denis Leary dramedy series about a flawed FDNY fireman and his firehouse mates picks up where it left off last season and hits the ground running while planting the seeds for some new storylines.

Lil' Bush (Wednesday, 10:30 p.m., Comedy Central) Think George W. Bush, his friends and enemies all animated as little kids in sort of a political Peanuts.

The Price Is Right (Friday, 11:00 a.m., WCBS 2) Call in sick or fire up the DVR so you can catch Bob Barker’s final episode on TPIR.

The 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (Friday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) The Emmys for the shows that are on while you are at work.
