Edwards Scoffs at Rudy's Presidential Chances

2007_06_edwards.jpgPresidential hopeful John Edwards targeted New York son Rudy Giuliani during a speech. The Democratic candidate had earlier called President Bush's "war on terror" a "bumper sticker," which prompted Giuliani to say, "This is not a bumper sticker; the war is a real war."

Yesterday, Edwards laid into Rudy by saying, "If Mayor Giuliani believes what President Bush has done is good and wants to embrace it and run a campaign for the presidency saying, 'I will give you four more years of what he's given you,' then he's allowed to do that. He'll never be elected President of the United States, but he's allowed to do that." Snap! Giuliani's campaign responded, "John Edwards' track record of predicting election outcomes speaks for itself." Double snap or half snap?

And whodathunkit: Former senator Fred Thompson is the second most popular Republican running - after Giuliani - according to Quinnipiac.

Obama recently held a couple virtual rallies in China. Not many people showed up, but then again it is June 2007 ... and this was in China.

#3 stop spreading lies To say there is little or no threat from terrorism... no body said that. & the country is no longer divided 50-50, it's now 70% anti-bush. & he isn't trying to paint Giuliani as a bush successor giuliani is doing it himself & only an idiot would do that in this climate, even mccain who keeps defending the iraq invasion has qualified it by saying bush did it wrong. what should we do with the gitmo prisoners? put them all on trial in texas so some of them can get the death penalty & some of the innocents can be released. the last two terror plots were stopped by citizens informing the fbi not by gitmo prisoner info.

This is why Obama is doing as well as he is. Edwards and Clinton are running against Bush. Here we see Edwards trying to paint Giuliani as a successor to the Bush because it makes the Dailykos and moveon.org crowd happy. To say there is little or no threat from terrorism plays right into Giuliani's hands when he claimed the Democrats want to act like it's pre-9/11. The reality is somewhere in between and everyone knows it. We need to be more vigilant and we should never have invaded Iraq. But if your choices are more of the same (GOP) or a complete pussy (Edwards) then it should come as little shock that the country is still divided 50-50.

And if Edwards wants to peel off voters who have concerns about terorrism but might otherwise vote for a Democrat, he should probably follow up his declaration that he will close Guantanamo with an explanation as to what he plans to do with the people being detained there.
