Pencil This In

MOVIE: By now you've probably seen Grizzly Man. The Werner Herzog directed documentary depicts one (slightly off kilter) man's relationship with nature. Over the course of 13 summers, Timothy Treadwell lived amongst the animals - most notably the bears, in the Alaskan wild. You know this doesn't end well.

THEATER: Mets fan and playwright Tom Diriwachter takes a swing at sports-oriented male bonding in his new dark comedy, Asterisk*, which is partly inspired by the 2001 legal battle arising from fans’ fisticuffs over Barry Bonds’s record-setting home-run ball. Diriwachter’s play concerns four guys who have all gone in on tickets in the home-run zone to a future Mets game where Bonds’s record may be broken. But when a TV-gathering in one of the man’s living rooms unravels into personal backbiting, unexpected curveballs enter the strike zone. [In previews.] - John Del Signore
