The "hipster" contingent at DiFara's is actually pretty small. Dom attracts all kinds. Personally, I do think it's worth it if you are in a patient mood. There have been plenty of times where, after waiting an hour, I'm thinking "OK, that's it! This is bullshit." But then you get the pie and all is forgiven. Now, Shake Shack, on the other hand, is totally not worth the aggravation for me.

Nope, no troll. Don't eat Domino's and I'm not trying to be contrary either. I'm just someone who thinks the whole DiFara's mania is ridiculous. Been there, done that (a few times) and it wasn't worth it by a long shot. I think most of those people who worship Dom are just new to the city, haven't eaten in enough places, and think they're pioneers for shlepping out to that part of Brooklyn. I grew up in Bklyn south of DiFara's and never even heard of the place until Jim Leff tipped off the hipster community to make it their pilgrimage. And really, is anyone surprised the DOH would shut it down? The only question is why it took so long.

In regards to the second piece, I realize you linked from foodandwine.com, but Dan's name is actually spelled PARILLA, not PERILLA. I was told 2 PR companies called to verify spelling, so just wanted to make sure he finally got his name spelled correctly. Thank you!

If you look at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene site, you'll see that he has really cleaned up the place from Although I don't really want to read March 15th when they scored an 89 on the violation points scale. They did however bring it down to 0 by April 2nd, the last inspection listed.

It's about time the DOH took some action against that filthy rathole pizza place. Supremely overrated pizza served in a dump -- what fun. To think, there are losers who will spend their entire Saturday at DiFara's waiting for Dom to finally remember their order and get around to serving them two hours after they ordered.
