waa waa i like bookstores i don't sip lattes everything new rules everything old is charming Went on a Chess kick a few months ago and stopped into the Strand. Found many, many cool new and old books tucked away including a used book with newspaper clippings of old game strategies! I sat on the floor and browsed and no one batted an eye. I love it there. I love the smell, the prices, the people.. and the many beautiful, smart women that shop there. It's my #2 hot woman spot after Whole Foods.

When I worked at the Strand in the late 80's, employees were paid on Fridays in cash. Friday was also the only day employees could make purchases. Smart businessman, that Mr. Bass!

i love strand, especially the $1 bargain books. i've found some great off-the-wall items there--great reads at a great price. and hey, tim, check it out: you can find lots of conservative pundits on those shelves. it seems no-one wants to pay full price for that moronic drivel.
