TB Andy! The Personal Injury Attorney! Deplaning near you soon! Poor TB Andy. Those nasty folks at the CDC might have interfered with his yuppie vacation. So we should tape them so we can blame them. Gee, you think a doctor wouldn't be a little less than candid with personal injury attorneys, who just might sue if they told him not to fly and they were wrong? If they were wrong, poor TB Andy and his "family" might suffer from emotional distress, so sue 'em. You betcha! Did anyone consider that TB Andy's farther's secret taping of the meeting with a doctor might be illegal bugging? Did he have a court order to allow him to do so? Oh, right. He's hard of hearing, so he taped the meeting [secretly] so he could "understand" the doctors. How convenient.

But duckbill-style masks are actually preferred by many compared with the old-fashioned flat and flat-fold masks you're thinking of. A flat mask isn't as efficient because too much material is up against the skin on your cheeks and face. Fabric up against the skin is fabric that's not filtering. You're left with just a small patch of fabric under the nose doing the actual filtering, meaning higher air velocity through the filter patch. Duckbills, by keeping everything except the edges off the skin, give a much larger filtering surface and thus lower air velocity through the pores. I only use duckbills myself.

And, hey, if he thinks this TB is no big deal, which he surely must have if he was willing to expose so many others, just let him refuse treatment. If there's any karma at all, this drug-resistant strain will mean he can't be cured. What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of a lake? A good start.
