ART: FreeNYC reminds us that the new gallery Honey Space is opening tonight with a little shindig. The night will include a solo show by Thomas Beale, "otherworldly food, homemade drinks, one New Orleans circus star, a 9-piece brass band, and the products of years of concentrated effort."
6 to 9pm // Honey Space [11th Ave at 21st St] // Free
MOVIE: March of the Penguins kicks off the Outdoor Lawn Chair Summer Movie Series tonight. Penguins, winter in Antarctica, icy terrain...what more do you need to cool off on a hot night?
8:30pm // Marine Park [Fillmore Ave and Stuart St, Jamaica Bay, Brooklyn] // Free
THEATER: Anthony Neilson’s Penetrator concerns two stereotypical 20-somethings who wake up one morning to find their pal Woody unexpectedly home from his tour in Iraq. As Woody proceeds to harsh their Playstation gaming with downer tales of rape and plunder, their friendship is strained to breaking. The black comedy was a hit in London in 1993; with Neilson’s approval this revival has been updated by Working Man’s Clothes to reflect today's ongoing adventure in Iraq. - John Del Signore
8pm // The American Place Theatre [520 8th Ave] // Tickets cost $15
MUSIC: Bright Eyes and The National have both sold out many shows this week, if you didn't get tickets to their shows tonight, we'll point you to a smaller venue with a lopsided floor. Kiss Kiss put on an outrageously fun live show, and for that reason alone we suggest you head over to Cake Shop tonight. They'll be playing with Nova Social and The Longshoremen.
8pm // Cake Shop [152 Ludlow St] // $7

Well, apparently not. I went with my young child to the exact location posted via public transportation. There was no Outdoor Lawn Chair Summer Movie Series. The NYPD and the Parks Department workers said they never even heard of this event. I wound up going home with a very dissapointed child. Please be more careful in posting information of this type. Misinformation is neither helpful or professional.
it's listed on the nyc parks dept site, as well:
