Hormones, while we're at it, were well known and also widely used back then. Synthetic hormones were invented in the 1930's too. The fact is, for as long as there have been competitive sports and some semblance of medical science, there have been athletes using the most and the best of what medical science has had to offer at the time. Ruth and Aaron and the others, were undeniably on "stuff". It just can't be proven and they are so well loved and respected that no one will ever want to.

If you think Ruth and all the others weren't taking anything they could get their hands on the give themselves a little extra pep, you're a moron. Uppers have been in baseball since baseball was invented, be it caffeine or amphetamines.

In the 20's and 30's you used to be able to buy amphetamines over the counter as a nasal inhaler called Benzedrine (aka Bennies) and it was widely regarded as a miracle cure-all and as openly used as aspirin.

As far as baseball was concerned, it was as commonplace as jockstraps and chewing tobacco and EVERYONE did it as recently as the late 90's early 00's when this whole issue started to blow up.

All your favorite players, be they past legends or present, have done SOMETHING. For example, you think Cal Ripken played all those games without taking something extra other than his vitamins and Wheaties to keep himself from keeling over? All of you Bonds, McGuire, Giambi etc. haters are just a bunch of hypocrites, plain and simple.

Jason Giambalco

Sweet.

if whoever catches Bonds home run-record ball... tossed it back to the field

Yeah but would you want to go through the rest of your life being known as "that retard that threw away a million bucks"?

As some what of a statement about suspicion of B*nds guilt, commissioner Selig and Hank Aaron have both refused to be in attendance whenever B*nds breaks Aaron's hr record..

I know it will never happen - but how awesome would it be if whoever catches Bonds home run-record ball... tossed it back to the field. I think that would be the greatest thing to ever happen to baseball.

Keep in mind one difference between Bonds and Mota, only one actually failed a drug test.
Actually, Bonds failed an amphetamines test last year.

Babe Ruth did it on hot dogs and beer

Hank Aaron did it with talent and class

B*nds will do it courtesy of THG and modafinil

Or, if you don't get to catch a current and ex-steroid user tonight or tomorrow, Jason Giambalco will be back in town shortly. And those Yankees really need a shot in the arm right about now.

I call Bonds "Steroids" - so if a home run is hit by the drugs container known as Barry Bonds, I would say, "Steroids got a home run last night." This way you are speaking the truth! He should be banned from baseball forever and have everything he has done wiped from the record books. Same deal with Mark McGuire and all the other juicers.
