Yesterday, an out-of-control car crashed into a crowded Popeye's Fried Chicken restaurant at Frederick Douglas Boulevard and 145th Street. Police say that the driver had a leg cramp, which made he "stomp on the gas pedal."
A witness told WNBC, "(It's) something I don't want to see again. She came down the hill and went straight into the window." WNBC has pictures of the scene, complete with half-eaten meals. The NY Times reported that the car had pushed tables further into the restaurant, and a cashier saw two people on the ground bleeding. Manager Rahul Cabir told the Post, "It crashed through my window. There were three customers trapped, screaming for help. The police had to cut [the driver] out."
Four customers were injured, while the driver and passenger of the car were also injured during the dinner time accident. They were all taken to Harlem Hospital. And here are tips from About.com and the BBC's Ask the Doctor on preventing leg cramps.

another reason to not swim, er i mean drive after eating.
I live around the corner from this restaurant and this Popeye's stays busy. Probably not as crowded as it normally would have been since so many people were grilling this weekend. Thank goodness it wasn't worse. The way people come flying down that hill is scary.
